And while Bulgaria isn't exactly known for its skiing it is fast positioning itself as a less expensive alternative to more chic locations in France and Italy.
The Irish Sunday Tribune newspaper has ranked Bulgarian ski resort Borovets 6th in its Top 10 of the most lucrative property locations, Dnevnik daily reported on March 4.
The list is topped by the world's fastest growing city, Dubai.

The average sale price for a sq m of residential property in Bulgaria reached 1090 leva in 2007, a 30 per cent increase over the 840 leva from a year previously. The overall price hike of residential properties for the last three years is 300 per cent, Kapital weekly reported.
Despite the price increase, the number of property deals went up with 10 per cent. Real estate agencies told Kapital Weekly the period between an apartment offer publication and signing a deal has dropped to less than a month.

The emergency healthcare system in Bulgaria will be completely restored, said Bulgarian Health Minister Radoslav Gaidarski.
At the moment, the plan for restoring Bulgaria's medical centers, which will cost an estimated 70 million leva, is being drafted.
EU structural funds will provide the sum.
The minister made this announcement during a ceremony to initiate a force of 34 off-road ambulances to 28 Bulgarian medical centers, worth three million leva, according to Focus news agency.

Yacht trade in Bulgaria registered a growth of more than 1000 per cent in 2007 compared to 2006.
Despite sales growth, Bulgaria lags far behind other countries, Dnevnik daily reported.
World practices showed that from 1.5 per cent to 3.5 per cent of a country's population should have one vessel. The figure for Scandinavian countries is 90 per cent, Bulgaria is currently far from one per cent of the population having vessels.
