Yacht sales in Bulgaria go up by more than 1000%

Yacht trade in Bulgaria registered a growth of more than 1000 per cent in 2007 compared to 2006.
Despite sales growth, Bulgaria lags far behind other countries, Dnevnik daily reported.
World practices showed that from 1.5 per cent to 3.5 per cent of a country's population should have one vessel. The figure for Scandinavian countries is 90 per cent, Bulgaria is currently far from one per cent of the population having vessels.
Venid-yacht manager Georgi Mihov said that the lack of equipment and enough ports is the main problem before yacht business in Bulgaria.
Nearly 80 per cent of buyers preferred motor yachts, he said.
The yacht exhibition organised by Venid-yacht provoked huge interest among clients and tourists. More than 130 luxurious boats were presented at the exhibition with total value 5 000 000 euro. The largest attraction was a Sunseeker model worth 2.3 million euro.
